Airport - Tiberias

DAY 2
Tiberias - Sea of Galilee - Golan Heights
A day in the evocative landscape of the Galilee, the backdrop of Jesus’ public ministry. The visit starts with Capernaum, where Jesus taught and performed miracles; then Tabgha, site of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes; and the miraculous catch of fish after the Resurrection. Then, see the amazing 2,000-year-old Jesus Boat in its beautiful museum setting. Enjoy the serenity of the Mount of Beatitudes, the site of the Sermon on the Mount. In the afternoon, a tour and wine-tasting at the Golan Heights Winery, one of the first to put Israel on the international wine map.
Varieties there benefit from the region’s volcanic soil and cooler climate. If time permits, continue to visit Bethsaida, home of Philip, Peter, and Andrew, where Jesus healed a blind man. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.

DAY 3
Cana - Nezareth
Start with a visit to Cana of Galilee, where Jesus turned water into wine, a place where the wine theme and Biblical sites converge. Then to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus, to visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, marking the spot where the Angel Gabriel visited Mary, and Mary’s Well. Tour Nazareth Village, where life in Jesus’ time is re-created, and where you can hear the story of ancient wine production in Galilee at its authentic wine press. Next, travel to the family-owned Dalton Winery, high in the Galilee Mountains, producing new-world, fruit-driven wines, befitting the environment and climate, to enjoy a tour and wine-tasting. Dinner and overnight in Tiberias.

DAY 4
Yardenit - Muhraka - Caesarea - Jerusalem
A stop at Yardenit, on the banks of the Jordan River, where pilgrims from all over the world come for baptism. Continue to Mount Carmel to the place where Elijah had his contest with the prophets of Ba’al and brought down fire from Heaven. Then, on to the Tishbi Winery in the western Carmel Mountains, now managed by the family’s fourth generation. Tishbi’s vineyards take advantage of the terroir across the country to produce fine blends and varietals.
Then, back to Bible times with a visit to the ancient port of Caesarea, where Peter converted the first gentiles and Paul was under house arrest before setting sail for Rome. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

DAY 5
Jerusalem Old City
Time to take in the sacred highlights of Jerusalem. Begin with the inspiring view of the holy city from the Mount of Olives and a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane. Then, after viewing the Pools of Bethesda and the Church of St Anne, a walk in the footsteps of Jesus on the Via Dolorosa, beginning with the Praetorium and pausing at the Stations of the Cross. The walk includes a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, marking the site of Calvary and Jesus’ Tomb. Continue through the Jewish Quarter and visit the Western Wall, the most sacred spot in the world to Jews. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

DAY 6
West Jerusalem - Latrun Monastery - Judean Hills
Visit the Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls, the most ancient copies of the Bible ever found, and the famous scale Model of Jerusalem, as it was in Jesus’ day. Drive to the Latrun Monastery and winery, nestled among olive groves and vineyards overlooking the Ayalon Valley, where Joshua made the sun standstill. From the Biblical Tel of Beit Shemesh, view Samson country, home to the Biblical judge who was not allowed to drink wine. Continue to Kibbutz Tzorah for a wine workshop at its terroir-driven winery in the Judean Hills. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

DAY 7
Negev - Dead Sea
Discover Israel’s famous arid-region wineries, where vineyards have made the desert bloom, as the Prophet Isaiah envisioned. A drive through the Negev’s desert landscapes to the boutique winery of Kibbutz Sde Boker. Continue to the magnificent ruins of Avdat, a Unesco World Heritage Site, whose ancient Christian inhabitants specialized in winemaking. Then, head to the Yatir Winery in the northeastern Negev, whose vineyards in the Yatir Forest of the southern Judean Hills are producing a variety of prize-winning wines. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

DAY 8
Dead Sea - Masada - Ein Gedi - Qumran
Begin with a dip in the Dead Sea near your hotel, and the opportunity for a host of beauty and health treatments that have made the Dead Sea the world’s biggest natural outdoor spa. Continue to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Masada, with a cable-car ride and tour of the famed fortress of Masada, where Jewish rebels made their last stand against the Romans. In the afternoon, stops at the oasis of Ein Gedi to view the place where David hid from King Saul, and at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
