We will start this trip along National Route 40, towards the south of our province. After crossing the North Oasis and Uco Valley, we will arrive at the third oasis, located further south of the province and formed by the departments of San Rafael and General Alvear.

San Rafael is the second most important city in Mendoza. It is a modern city, but it still keeps typical and historical places, which will be appreciated through a brief tour of its main avenues.

Continuing south, the route will take us to Valle Grande where we will stop for lunch.

Later, the Atuel River and the majestic Atuel Canyon, a product of a fault of the globe (similar to the Colorado Canyon) added to water and wind erosion, gave rise to colorful and colorful geo-forms, resulting in a combination of colors and striking rock walls. In this section the Atuel River sinks into the multicolored rock carved over millions and millions of years, giving a truly unique landscape. Different dams and hydroelectric power plants complete this scenery, which due to its natural beauty has become an important tourist development project until we reach El Nihuil dam.

On our way back to the south, we will cross the Galileo Vitale dam and Villa 25 de Mayo (San Rafael's foundational place) to end the day in the city of Mendoza.
