    Welcome to Arusha, Tanzania!

Your host will be on hand when you arrive at the airport and will take you to Arusha Lodge. Comprising of 30 Plantation Houses that radiate out into the evergreen coffee fields, Arusha Lodge has been designed around the original landowner’s home that dates to the early 1900s. Enjoy freshly brewed Tanzania coffee whilst you relax and unwind after your flight. If you are ready for sleep, you will immediately relax in your luxurious room, with its fine linens. In the morning you will be refreshed and ready to go.

Chem Chem Wildlife Concession - action simply never stops!

We enjoy a full day in the Chem Chem Wildlife Concession where the action simply never stops: from majestic Elephants, agile tree-climbing lions, to giraffes, wildebeest, warthogs, zebras, impalas, aardvarks, hyenas each taking their turn at the various water holes. The Tarangire valley is famous for its large density of elephants and its giant Baobab trees. You can track down groups of giraffes in the Palm forest, or listen to the cheeky chatter of baboons and other primates. Lions roam around the Little ChemChem at night; cheetahs hunt on the plains facing the Lake Burunge; leopards, eland and lesser kudu can be seen in the more dense woods in the inner part of the concession.

    The Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, take a morning drive en route to Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano and bucolic sanctuary supporting a wide array of wildlife, including the elusive black rhino. Stay the next two nights at The Ngorongoro Lodge set on 50 acres of virgin Tanzanian bush in the Ngorongoro volcanic landscape. This all-suites wood log cabin style retreat is located a few steps from the Game Reserve Gate and a 20-minute drive away from the Ngorongoro Crater that is said to have the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa.

    The Ngorongoro Crater

Today we shall pack a picnic lunch and spend the day within the crater. There are around 30,000 large animals within the crater, so you are bound to see lots of wildlife: large herds of wildebeest, antelope, and zebras roam the landscape, often being pursued by hyenas, cheetahs, or lions. The lake inside the crater is home to numerous colorful bird species, and you can see hippos lounging in the water. Every so often, visitors see impressive bull elephants passing through the crater area in search of water, though herds with cows and calves are rare.

Serengeti National Park - Explore and search of Cheetahs, Lions, and Leopards

After breakfast, we proceed to the vast Serengeti in search of cheetahs, lions, and leopards in pursuit of prey. Take an optional hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti plains (at an additional cost), viewing wildlife — hippos, wildebeests, and Thompson’s gazelle — from above. The Serengeti houses abundant life beyond its mammal population, including over 500 species of birds. Watch, too, for eagles, known to glide effortlessly over the Lobo Hills and sun-scorched landscape; lightning-fast cheetahs, who prowl the southeastern plains; and untold plains-grazers, who become unwitting prey. During downtime, pore over a good book in your room or absorb the warm, golden glow of African sunset.

Serengeti National Park - Admire Tanzania’s first-established, largest, and most famous park

Our vantage point in the Serengeti allows us to further explore this vast and endlessly rolling Savannah plain. It is Tanzania’s first-established, largest, and most famous park wherein tens of thousands of hoofed animals roam in a constant and unremitting search for the fresh grasslands upon which their survival depends. The Serengeti, whose Maasai name ‘Syringe’ translates as ‘the endless plains, offers unparalleled ornithological opportunities and an unrivaled natural arena wherein the glory and harmony of nature can be appreciated as nowhere else on earth.

Serengeti National Park - Game Drive

Once again you will be able to experience game drives in the morning and the afternoon. Both drives will give you great wildlife viewing opportunities. You will see large herds of local grazing animals going by and have a good chance of seeing some of the big cats. If you can visit between January and March, you may be able to witness the Great Migration, when huge herds of Thomson’s gazelles, wildebeests, and zebras return to the Serengeti as they give birth to their young. It is an unforgettable experience that is not to be missed. After all these adventures, you will be more than ready for a mid-day nap, a dip in the pool, or laze on the veranda to escape the heat of the day.
